Do you wonder which NGPF activities other personal finance teachers love to use? Since we launched the My Resources feature, which allows you to save your favorite NGPF activities and resources in your Teacher Account Profile, five activities have risen to the top.
The clear favorite of all the activities, teachers love the Online Bank Simulator to help students practice navigating the features of an online bank account – like direct deposit, paying bills, and transferring funds– so they can feel prepared to use their own real online bank account. And rest assured, student data is never collected.
Students play the NGPF Arcade game Spent and reflect on their experience of living paycheck to paycheck. They start the game with this scenario: Your savings are gone. You’ve lost your house. And you’re down to your last $1,000. Can you make it through the month?
Timely with tax season, students complete a 1040 form for individuals with a variety of backgrounds and personal situations, such as dependent vs. independent, part-time vs. full-time, and more.
Students get up and out of their seats as they practice reading a paycheck, distinguish between gross and net pay, and calculate different tax values. As they solve each Scavenger Hunt Card, their answer will lead them to the next one and they’ll race against the clock to complete the entire loop.
Students explore how they make financial choices through this engaging game where beans represent their income and must be allocated to different expenses. This can be played individually or in small groups.
