A 32-year career at one company may not sound like it leads to a life full of adventure and advocacy, but Don Berkman's story stands to say otherwise! In this NGPF Podcast episode, he discusses the nuances of making informed career choices in today’s dynamic job market, emphasizing the crucial role of financial education and reflecting on the unexpected turns his career has taken.
Don's impactful tenure at Dun & Bradstreet, culminating in a liberating nomadic lifestyle, illustrates a journey that is nothing short of extraordinary. Despite spending over three decades at one company, Don strongly emphasizes the value of exploring various career paths.
“I think there's a lot of advantages to working for 3, 5, 10 companies in your career. You get to expand your knowledge base, you get to make all sorts of different contacts and build your network,” he advises.
Don's perspective is particularly compelling given his experience in interacting with many different entrepreneurs and business owners throughout his time at Dun & Bradstreet. These experiences have equipped him with a unique understanding of career evolution in today’s fast-paced business environment.
His advice underscores the importance of versatility and adaptability, suggesting that diverse experiences can go a long way in enriching one’s professional life.
