Congratulations to the 25 recipients of the NGPF Scholarship to attend the 15th annual Jump$tart National Educator Conference in Louisville, Kentucky November 2-4!
The Jump$tart National Educator Conference (NEC) annually brings together PreK through 12th grade teachers from across the U.S. who are dedicated to financial education in the classroom. Since 2018, the Jump$tart NEC has been an all-scholarship event.
NGPF is honored to sponsor these educators who have gone above and beyond to work toward a future where all students are guaranteed a personal finance course before graduation.
Amanda Jansen
Amanda Jansen is a teacher at East Noble High School in Kendallville, Indiana. She teaches business classes such as Personal Finance and Accounting. Amanda and her husband have three children who fill up her time outside of school.
Bianca DiIorio
Bianca DiIorio is a business education teacher in Wilton, CT. She is proud to increase access to personal finance education.
Brenda Martin-Lee
Brenda has been teaching business courses at Seneca High School for 21 years. In addition to teaching, she is a part-time Professional Development Consultant for the New Jersey Education Association. She holds a B.S. in Commerce, a Master’s in Business Administration, and an Educational Leadership certification. She is married with 3 lovely daughters and 3 very intelligent grandchildren.
Brian Johnson
Brian is entering his 27th year teaching and has been teaching personal finance since 2008. Teaching financial literacy is his passion. He's excited that it will now be a required class for Michigan high school students!
Brooke Martinez
Dr. Brooke Martinez has been teaching financial literacy for 11 years in Utah. She teaches the class both face-to-face and online. Brooke is the NGPF Representative for the state of Utah. She loves incorporating new technology and AI into her courses.
Bruce Stubblefield
Bruce Stubblefield earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and has 12 years of experience in public education, with nine being in the classroom. Serving as the 9-12 Social Studies Content Lead for Hamilton County Schools in Chattanooga, TN, he has taught Economics, IB History of the Americas, Statewide Dual Credit American History II, standard US History, and 6th Grade Ancient History. He is a father and married to an educator. His interests include reading (history, sci-fi, and classic/modern literature), hiking/camping, video games, soccer, college football, and yard work! Currently, Bruce is in the process of acquiring his Masters in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Alabama.
Carol Zeitz
Carol teaches Business courses such as Principles of Business, Accounting, and Securities & Investments. Carol incorporates personal finance skills and knowledge throughout her curriculums. She is also the DECA Advisor for her school.
Colleen Nunnery
I teach Business and Personal Finance at Princeton Senior High School in Princeton, West Virginia. I have a B.S. in Business Education and a M.A. in Educational Leadership from Concord University, Athens WV.
Diana Bruno
Diana Bruno taught personal finance as a Civics teacher and financial literacy during summer enrichment at the International High School of New Orleans. In her current school role, she is an instructional coach who works directly with her school's financial literacy teachers.
Elliot (El) Pernell
Elliot Pernell (also known as El) is a financial literacy instructor at George Washington Carver High School in New Orleans, of which he’s a proud alum. Additionally, he serves as president of Transporter LLC, a logistics company he started in 2017. He’s passionate about inspiring the next generation and promoting financial intelligence.
Erin Ferris
Erin has been teaching at Thurston High School in Redford, MI for the past 20 years. Erin teaches Personal Finance and Business courses in Marketing and Management.
Gregory Evans
Gregory Evans has 24 years of experience as an educator. He is currently a Social Studies Curriculum Leader for Detroit Public Schools Community District. In this role, he supports high school Personal Finance teachers with curriculum, field trips, guest speakers, and special programs. Last year, Gregory inspired teachers to engage in over 1,000 hours of professional development through his district and NGPF's various options.
Jasmine Palmer-Gray
Jasmine has been teaching business at Southeastern High School for the last four years. She recently began an after-school Investment Club to help students advance their understanding of finance and investment. Her mission is to equip students with the building blocks to build their future career.
Jeff Allen
Jeff Allen spent the first 20 years of his career teaching social studies at Bullard High School in Fresno, California. In the fall of 2023, he had the opportunity to join the team of NGPF Personal Finance Specialists focused on increasing student access to financial education.
Jennifer Varga
Jennifer has been teaching person financial literacy for two years and she loves it. She is also in the process of writing curriculum for middle school students for her district and would like to have more information to use.
Marcia Latta
Marcia teaches business classes at McKay High School in Salem, Oregon. She believes that financial literacy is empowering, and every student should have access to courses that help them understand financial issues and manage their own money.
Marti Diaz
Marti Diaz, M.Ed. has been in the education field for 20 years, as both a teacher and teacher mentor. A former Mathematics teacher based in Milwaukee, WI, she works as the Financial Literacy Teacher Mentor (NGPF FEE Grant) at Milwaukee Public Schools. During her free time, she enjoys traveling with her family.
Melissa Schram
Melissa teaches Personal Finance, A.P. Economics, and other business and technology classes at Millard West High School in Omaha, Nebraska.
Renee Nelson
Renee has been teaching for over 20 years in New York City. Over the years, Renee has developed a passion for educating students on Personal Finance to empower them to make educated financial decisions. Renee is currently advocating for all students in NY to graduate with formal financial literacy education.
Rob Fetters
Rob Fetters has been teaching social studies students and coaching the "In The Know" academic quiz bowl team at Mount Vernon High School since 1999. He teaches college credit plus Financial Literacy at MVHS through the Central Ohio Technical College, as well as US History and American Government classes. He is the president of the North Central Ohio Education Association regional teachers union.
Shalon Bond
Shalon Bond has been a director at Dallas ISD, in Dallas, TX since 2018. She is implementing Personal Financial Literacy in her district to ensure students graduate ready to make decisions as confident, knowledgeable, civically engaged members of society. Shalon, her husband, and two sons live in Richardson, TX.
Tamela Winston
Tamela Winston is a special education teacher at Bessemer City High School. She enjoys teaching life skills to her students to help ensure they become productive adults in society. She wants to ensure they obtain employment and are able to manage their finances as future adults.
Tammi Campbell
Tammi has taught Personal Finance, Accounting 1 and 2, and Fundamentals of Computing at Airport High School in Lexington County School District 2, West Columbia, SC for 11 years. She is currently in year 26 of her teaching career. She has a B.A. in English Education and M.Ed in Divergent Learning from Columbia College, Columbia, SC. She is a South Carolina Financial Literacy Master Teacher and believes a strong foundation of financial literacy education helps support life goals such as obtaining employment, saving for the future, and preparing for retirement.
Travis Towne
Dr. Travis Towne teaches Civic Literacy and Economics & Personal Finance at an Early College High School in Kinston, NC and is passionate about helping students learn life skills they will utilize throughout their lives. An Army Veteran with service during Operation Iraqi Freedom, he enjoys participating in his local community along with his family. He enjoys the learning process and constantly looks for growth opportunities to participate in and bring others along with him.
Yesenia Medrano
Yesenia Medrano has been teaching mathematics for 18 years in California, with the last two years dedicated to Financial Literacy. Passionate about empowering students with essential financial skills, Yesenia believes that financial education is crucial for building a brighter future.
