$1M Florida Access to Financial Education Grant Program Extended

Florida public high school teachers - you now have until December 31, 2025 to earn a $500 stipend for completing 20 hours of NGPF PD. Read on for details.

The Dorothy Hukill Financial Literacy Act was signed into law in March 2022 by Governor Ron DeSantis, guaranteeing Florida high school students will take a one semester personal finance course prior to graduating. The law went into effect starting with students entering grade 9 in the 2023-2024 school year.

Next Gen Personal Finance is committed to supporting the implementation of this state-wide financial education program through:

 

A $1 million investment in teacher professional development through grants

To ensure successful implementation of the personal finance course guarantee, the Stiles-Nicholson Foundation and Next Gen Personal Finance are together providing $500 stipends for up to 2,000 active Florida public high school teachers who complete 20 hours of NGPF by Dec. 31, 2025.

Any combination of Certification Courses, On-Demand, Virtual PD, and FinCamps count. See below for details on this grant program.

No-Cost Curriculum and Professional Development

Next Gen Personal Finance (NGPF) curriculum and industry-leading professional development are provided at no cost to Florida educators. More than 115,000 personal finance teachers nationwide—and nearly 4,000 teachers in Florida—use NGPF curriculum, reaching more than 80% of high school students.

Who is eligible to receive a professional development stipend? 
The first 2,000 currently active public high school teachers in the state of Florida who complete 20 hours of NGPF professional development (between Nov. 8, 2022 - Dec. 31, 2025) are eligible to receive a $500 stipend.

If I complete 40 hours of PD, will I be eligible for an additional $500 stipend?
We encourage everyone to take as much PD as desired, but because we want to reach as many high school teachers as possible, we are limiting stipends to one per teacher.

How much time will I have to complete these 20 hours of professional development and earn this $500 stipend?

The grant program is not time-based, but rather teacher-based. Funding is available to provide stipends to 2,000 Florida high school teachers who complete 20 PD hours. We will update this page so you are aware of how many stipends are available.

How will the stipends be provided and when?
You will receive a $500 Amazon e-gift card as a stipend. NGPF will process these stipends on a monthly rolling basis.

You will NOT need to apply for these stipends as NGPF Academy automatically tracks your level of participation in NGPF PD. 

I already invested 20 hours in NGPF PD before the start of this program on November 8, 2022. Will I receive a $500 stipend based on this prior work?
No. The $500 stipend will only be given for hours completed on November 8, 2022 or later.

Are there costs for the professional development workshops?
NGPF offers all of its professional development at no cost. Over the past two years, 10,000+ educators nationwide have invested more than 250,000 hours in NGPF PD.
